Period Birth Control Using The Rhythm Method

When it comes to family planning, birth control is an important issue. For some people finding a natural method of birth control is important as they do not want to use any outside help to prevent pregnancy. There are many different ways you can decrease your chances of getting pregnant, but most natural methods are much less effective than using contraceptive devices on the market.

One of the most commonly believed myths about natural birth control is that a woman cannot become pregnant when she is menstruating. This form of period birth control is highly risky. Although the chances of becoming pregnant at this stage of the menstrual cycle are low, it can and does happen.

Some of the other methods include the rhythm method. This is when it is determined what are the womans fertile days and what are her infertile days. This method can be effective but if a woman has an irregular cycle it can be very difficult to create the calendar (this is also known as calendar based contraception).

Period birth control comes into play in the rhythm method, as the week of the period is considered to be an infertile one, just like the week before it. This means that according to the rhythm method, intercourse is okay during the week before and the week of your period. In actual fact, these two weeks are the safest for avoiding pregnancy.

Unfortunately this is not a foolproof method. We are not machines and our bodies do not always run perfectly on a schedule. It is possible to ovulate early or late, which means that you could become pregnant in the infertile weeks. Also, sperm can live in the body for days, meaning you can become pregnant even if you havent had intercourse for a few days!

Natural birth control is certainly an alternative that many people use, and often with success. In most of these cases the people practicing it are prepared for the possibility that their birth control measures may not be effective all the time.

It is also common for behavioral methods to be used in conjunction with the rhythm method. This means coitus interruptus and other natural behaviors are combined with the calendar approach to reduce the chances of a pregnancy occurring.

In order to be much more certain that you will avoid conception it is necessary to use a different method along with the rhythm method. As a matter of fact, a combination of any two methods reduces your chance of becoming pregnant to almost none!

Because of the different feelings on the sensitive subject of birth control, especially with regards to some religions, the calendar based contraceptive method will continue to be a very popular one among some groups. However, for those looking for more sure results, hormonal methods and barrier methods will be much more effective.
